Environmental management

In the extensive field of environmental management, Queformat is a leader in environmental geotechnical engineering. In recent years, we have completed a number of major characterization and rehabilitation projects in Quebec, particularly in the Montreal region.

When site contamination levels need to be established through characterization, Queformat starts by investigating the site’s previous use (environmental site Assessment – Phase I). From here, we can define a progressive investigative program, where the findings from one investigation are assessed before starting a new investigation. Such a procedure lets our experts determine—and at a minimal cost—the levels of contamination in a given site prior to its sale, purchase or development. As needed, Queformat’s characterization studies can also identify the optimal rehabilitation scenario based on costs and regulations.

Furthermore, Queformat’s experts can draw up detailed soil remediation estimates and supply qualified personnel to supervise the work. In matters of environmental restoration, Queformat’s reputation needs no embellishment. In the course of hundreds of projects completed throughout Quebec, we have successfully developed decontamination approaches that are both efficient and effective.

Queformat always acts independently, particularly when it comes to supervising site decontamination. Time and again, during major decontamination projects like the Glen Yards (future site of the MUHC/CUSM) and the Peel Basin (Old Montreal/Lachine Canal) or in site rehabilitation initiatives like the former Angus Shops, we have proven our ability to meet the client’s expectations, teaming up with seasoned contractors and ensuring rigorous supervision of the work carried out.

When invited to join a project from the start, Queformat’s experts can help guide the development strategies for the site in question. In particular, they can rapidly assess the existing environmental conditions. Our environmentally sustainable solutions allow us to successfully bring major and complex projects to term, even when the conditions for success appear difficult to attain.
